India 2016: Day 3

Day three:

“Travel isn’t always pretty. Travel isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it breaks your heart. By that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks only on your memory, on your consciousness; on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. And hopefully you leave something good behind.” Anthony Bourdain

Day Three in India (Sunday):

Sunday was a generous day for our hearts. As a team, we were able to spend the day celebrating the Lord, building our new friendships in India, and interacting the children from Immanuel Center orphanage. With rents overhead, the children invited us to participate in singing of English children songs. This quickly turned into teaching is dances, best friend handshakes, and games of tag. The joy and energy of these children is eccentric. It fills your spirit and gives you such a heavy heart. They have so little of physical possessions, yet have more joy and happiness than imaginable.

One girl asked if I had a best friend, and it was without hesitation, I pointed to the members of our team. This trip is changing each of us, in ways we could not have anticipated beforehand. It is leaving strong marks on our memories and our hearts. As we move forward, we continue to ask ourselves, what is our purpose? We are gaining so much, and yet, can we leave something good behind?
